Having menu cards during your wedding reception is one of the few details commonly overlooked, according to Wedding DNA. Having menu cards custom-printed can be expensive and time consuming, but according to The Knot, it doesn't have to be, especially if you make your own. Many wedding planners who post information on the The Knot agree printing menu cards for every one of your guests can add to the detail and look of your overall reception.
Instructions
Make Wedding Reception Menu Cards
1. Obtain the full menu of what's being served from the wedding caterer or reception site. Wedding DNA recommends double-checking the spelling of each item that's going to be served since mistakes on a menu card could lead to embarrassment.
2. Download the small, medium and large menu templates from Theknot.com. Save them in a file you can easily find.
3. In the small menu template, type the first course, whether that's an appetizer, soup or salad, and then print on a piece of cardstock.
4. Fill in what's being served for the entrée on the medium template menu card; The Knot recommends including all information from the type of gravy to the side dish when referring to the entrée. Print the card on a different colored card stock.
5. Type what's being served for dessert on the large template menu card and then print on the remaining piece of card stock that hasn't been used.
6. Cut out each card using the template as a guide. The Knot says each card will be a different size. Stack the cards on top of one another with the smallest card being on top.
7. Punch a hole using a hole punch in the top center of the all the cards, making sure it's punched in the same spot in each card.
8. Tie the cards together with ribbon, making a small bow in the center of each group of cards. Cut extra ribbon that may be on each card.
