Paint A Color Page

Use acrylic paints for color pages.

Color pages are typically found in books for children. These pages contain solid black lines on a white page, which allows a child to color within the lines to strengthen their hand-eye coordination. These pages are often colored with pencils, crayons or markers, and sometimes paint.

Instructions

1. Set up your painting area. Place the color page on a flat surface that is in a comfortable reach. Place paints on the side closest to your writing hand. Place the cup of water at the top corner closest to the paints, with the paper towel underneath.

2. Dip the tip of the detail paint brush into the water and tap the tip dry on the paper towel. It is important to moisten the tips of the paint brush before using it, as this ensures the bristles are flexible for use.

3. Paint all areas with one color. For example, if you are painting a cat close to a tree, paint the cat brown and the tree brown at the same time. This will eliminate constant switching of colors throughout the painting process.

4. Paint around the interior of the lines using a fine detailing brush. Fill in the remainder of the area using the same color. Allow paint to dry for 10 to 15 minutes before continuing.

5. Repeat steps two through four with the remaining areas on the coloring page. Be sure to remove all paint from the brush by swirling the brush in water after each color use. Allow color page to dry for one to two hours before hanging.
