Save your gourmet beans for snacking instead of using them for centerpieces.
Transform your tabletop or living space with a centerpiece using jelly beans as an art medium. Whether you are decorating for Easter or are in need of a pop of vivid colors and interesting textures for your centerpiece, these candies fill the void. Jelly beans do not melt as easy as other candies, including chocolate, so you can use hot glue on the beans.
Instructions
Jelly Beans by Candlelight
1. Fill a 12-by-6-inch-wide translucent glass jar with multi-colored jelly beans.
2. Insert four to eight creme-colored taper candles in a row down the center of the jelly beans.
3. Arrange fresh flower blossoms over the top of the jelly beans and in between the candles.
Jelly Bean-filled Vases
4. Divide a bag of multi-colored jelly beans by color. Layer the beans by color in three clear glass flower vases that are all tall but of varying heights.
5. Stick the stems of two to four silk flowers into the jelly beans of each vase that will help hold the bouquet of flowers upright.
6. Lay a floral-printed handkerchief in the center of your table or area. Place the filled vases on the handkerchief. Arrange the vases so that the tallest vase is in the center or back --- depending on the view of the centerpiece --- while the shorter vases are in the front or on the sides.
Jelly Bean Topiary
7. Insert a 12-inch-long wooden dowel that is 1/2 an inch thick into a 4-inch foam sphere.
8. Place a dot of hot-glue on the end of a piece of ribbon and press it to the dowel right next to the sphere. Wrap the ribbon down the dowel, covering the wood. Secure the end of the ribbon with more hot glue.
9. Spray glitter over the surface of the sphere to give it sparkle. Hot-glue jelly beans over the surface of the sphere.
10. Fill a 4-inch square vase with floral foam. Press the dowel into the center of the foam.
11. Tint flaked coconut with green food coloring. Cover the foam with the coconut so you cannot see the foam beneath; the coconut will appear as grass.
