Red potatoes, corn and mushrooms are a few of the ingredients you can use for indoor crab-boiled veggies.
Red potatoes, corn and mushrooms are just as much fun, and often just as flavorful, at a crab boil as the seafood itself. If you ever have a craving for vegetables and sides usually found as extras at a Louisiana crab or crawfish boil, but don't want to bother with buying a sack of live crustaceans or don't want to set up an outdoor cooking rig, here's a simple alternative. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Bring water to rolling boil and add corn. Since corn takes slightly longer to cook, allow it to boil for approximately 15 minutes before adding potatoes.
2. Add the liquid crab boil and potatoes. Continue to cook under a rolling boil.
3. Cut lemons in half and add to the pot, stirring them in.
4. Add salt and Old Bay seasoning and allow veggies to continue boiling. You can test the potatoes by sticking them with a fork
5. Once potatoes are cooked, turn stove to low heat and then add the mushrooms. Allow to cook for 30 more minutes.
