Make Your Own Hawaiian Centerpiece

Play Hawaiian music to set the mood.

Craft your own centerpiece for a luau or other Hawaiian themed event. Bring elements of the beach and the tropical climate to any occasion with your authentic Hawaiian centerpiece. Set the tables with a plain tablecloth to start. Add grass skirts around the edges to tie in with the themed centerpieces. Also, consider inserting bamboo torches into the grass around the party tables if it is an outside event. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Line playground sand on the bottom of a glass bowl, approximately 12 inches wide, for the Hawaiian centerpiece. Place a sand dollar or starfish on one side of the bowl.

2. Fill the glass bowl halfway with water. Place floating flower candles onto the water. Place three onto the water if they are small, roughly 3 inches wide.

3. Float four hibiscus or plumeria blooms on top of the water. Depending on the availability of the flowers, choose any type of tropical flower, such as orchids or ginger.

4. Cut the top portions of palm fronds so they are approximately 12 inches long. Arrange four in a cross shape in the center of your party table.

5. Place the glass bowls with the decorative elements on top of the palm fronds. Light the candles just before the party begins.
