Make Hurricane Popcorn

Hurricane Popcorn

Tired of simple buttered popcorn? For the most part representing adjustments on and combinations of Hawaii's various cultures, Hawaii's little-known snacks are delicious as well as different. A cheap and delicious snack, hurricane popcorn is the result of the fusion between a "normal" snack (popcorn) and the tastes of Hawaii. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Pour the popcorn into your plastic bag (the clear plastic bags used for candies and sweets work best).

2. Pour the melted butter over the popcorn. You'll want to do this little by little, pouring and then mixing so the butter doesn't accumulate at the top.

3. Close the bag and shake (don't spill!). Recommended method: Twist the top of the bag closed with one hand and with your other hand at the bottom of the bag, twist (as if you were vigorously screwing and unscrewing a bottle cap). Also, keeping air in the bag allows for a better distribution of the butter.

4. Once the butter has spread throughout the bag, carefully open it and add the mochi crunch and furikake. The flakes of furikake will stick so be careful to mix and pour gradually as you did with the butter. Close the bag and shake until well mixed.

5. Enjoy!
