Monkeying around with party favors can be a swinging good time.
Whether you enjoy monkeys because of their playful behavior, athletic swinging ability or human-like personalities, using them as inspiration for your next party will surely get guests in the swing of things. When it comes time to send guests back to their own personal jungle habitats, give them a parting favor as a memento of their monkeying around. Does this Spark an idea?
Sock It To 'Em
The cuddly, red-mouthed sock monkey has been swinging from vine to vine for more than 100 years when The Nelson Knitting Mills company began manufacturing Red Heel socks (the sock monkey's red mouth is actually the sock's heel). While you won't find sock monkeys in a natural jungle habitat, your party guests may enjoy taking them home to their natural habitats. You'll find sock monkeys for sale at toy stores, party goods supplies and craft shops, but you can also custom make sock monkeys for the guests at your party. The socks themselves may be purchased in bulk along with batting or cotton. Create colorful sock monkeys to match your party's theme or go with the traditional brown-flecked version.
Creative Candles
You can thrill a monkey by handing him a banana, but the yellow curved fruits don't make such exciting party favors. Instead, shine a light on your guests with a gift of a banana-scented candle. Guests will be able to unwind after a long day and take in the fruity scent or replace a leftover food aroma in their homes. With a few supplies, crafty party throwers can make their own banana candles (find banana-scented essential oils at candle and craft shops). For less monkeying around, buy banana-scented candles in almost any place candles are for sale, from candle specialty stores to craft shops to home goods stores. You can also find banana-scented candles in bulk from online candle wholesalers.
See, Hear, Speak
The three little monkeys who symbolize the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil can serve as inspiration for your next party favors. With one party favor, you can satisfy all three monkeys--a colorful monkey print bandanna. You'll find fabric by the yard emblazoned with playful monkeys, including sock monkeys, jungle monkeys and even bananas. Cut fabric to about 12-inch-by-12-inch. squares and finish off the rough edges. Roll and tie with a pretty ribbon. Guests can use the "banana bandana" a variety of ways, including as a blindfold (see no evil), cold-weather ear wrap (hear no evil) and facial mask (speak no evil).
