Ideas For Kids' Party Favors

Kids' parties often include favors for the party guests. Party supply stores sell commercial party favors in various themes, but customized party favors offer an alternative for parties. Many party favor ideas are inexpensive and require little preparation time. Departing from the commercial favors will create a memorable party and elicit excitement from the young party guests. Does this Spark an idea?

Gift Certificates

Fast food restaurants usually offer small denominations of gift certificates that work well as kids' party favors. Check with chain fast food restaurants, as well as local ice cream shops or restaurants. A gift certificate in the amount of $1 or $2 is enough for each guest to purchase a snack or ice cream treat. The kids will enjoy the opportunity to make their own purchases at the food establishment.

Crafts

A craft project can double as a party activity and a favor. Kids can create the craft during the party and take it home at the end. Consider a craft related to the party theme or choose a general craft project. Kids can decorate a small flower pot and take home a packet of seeds. Tie dying t-shirts can be messy but entertaining for older kids. Kits for painting sun catchers are available and require little preparation.

Food Favors

Customized sugar cookies packaged in a cellophane bag make a unique party favor idea. Include each child's name on his cookie while decorating. Another option is to allow the kids to decorate their own cookies during the party. Purchase decorative cookie bags or boxes so they can take their decorated cookies home. Fill small cellophane bags with assorted candy, tie it with a ribbon and add a thank you tag. Candy necklaces and other fun candy options also work well as party favors for kids.

Commemorative Photo

Set up a decorated area for taking photos. Create a scene based on the theme. For example, a farm themed party could include a bale of hay, buckets, a lasso and a stick horse. Choose either a solid background or one with a farm scene. Provide a few costume pieces for the kids to wear. Take a photo of each child in the photo area. Print the photos immediately on a home printer or send them with the thank you notes.

Theme Related Toys

Choose inexpensive toys that relate to the theme. Favors for a summer themed party could include sand buckets or beach balls. A princess party could include toy tiaras for the favors. Eye patches or toy swords are possibilities for a pirate themed party. Dollar stores often sell small toys that fit different party themes.
