Plan A Hawaiian Honeymoon

A Hawaiian honeymoon is possible on any budget.

Celebrate the beginning of a new life together on a Hawaiian honeymoon. With its world-class resorts, pristine beaches and dining hotspots, Hawaii is a very popular place for newlyweds to unwind after saying exchanging their vows. In fact, the Big Island's own Four Seasons Hualalai made the Travel Channel's Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations list.

Instructions

1. Decide which islands you will visit. Oahu is known for Pearl Harbor and the nightlife of Waikiki. Some couples choose Kauai and the Big Island for outdoor adventures. Maui's beaches continuously top the critics' charts, making it a premiere Hawaiian honeymoon destination.

2. Set a budget for your Hawaiian honeymoon. Consider additional costs such as dining out and shopping. Keep in mind that just about everything is more expensive in Hawaii. As they say, it's the price you pay for paradise.

3. Create a list of the top five things you will do in Hawaii as newlyweds. Consider activities like surfing, paddleboarding, hiking and scuba diving. Other activities include dinner cruises, luaus, sightseeing, and sunbathing at the pool.

4. Get advice from an experienced vacation specialist. Ask for recommendations of the best travel dates and hotels, including location, amenities and nearby attractions. Never leave the honeymoon planning to someone who doesn't have knowledge of the islands. Use a travel agent in Hawaii or one who specializes in Hawaiian honeymoon packages.

5. Book your honeymoon. Travel agents use wholesalers for the best prices on air, hotel and car packages. Compare what you find online with what your travel agent quotes and consider any differences --- honeymoon upgrades, tax inclusions, flight times, etc. Discuss your findings with your travel agent to see if he or she can meet or beat what you found.
