Travel To Hawaii In February

A warm beach awaits you in Hawaii during the cold month of February.

Looking to escape the winter blues in February? Traveling to Hawaii is a great way to have some fun in the sun, but given that February is a high tourist time, a little bit of planning will make sure you get the most out of your trip.

Instructions

Flights

1. Look for flights as early as you can. February is a busy tourist season throughout Hawaii.

2. Find great deals for flights on discount airfare sights such as: www.cheaptickets.com, www.expedia.com, or www.travelocity.com.

3. Look for flights that fly into Honolulu. Because Honolulu is a major city, more flights go there and chances are good that you'll find a good price.

4. Do not overlook an indirect flight. Direct flights to Hawaii are often more expensive than indirect ones that have several connections.

Accomodations

5. Look into hotel availability at least a month in advance. High tourist season means high prices, but you can also find a good deal if you plan ahead. Many of the flight websites will offer a discount with a hotel. You can also look at www.hotwire.com or www.lastminute.com for availability.

6. Check out apartment rentals, especially if you are planning on staying in a small town, such as Haleiwa in the North Shore. Look at listings on craigslist, kijijior even www.hostelworld.com, call ahead to talk to the renter to feel things out. Do not pay any money in advance. A high tourist season means people may try to take advantage of desperate travelers, so be smart about it.

7. Research the area you will be staying in. While Hawaii has miles and miles of beautiful coastline, some of the beaches are better suited for water sports, such as surfing, and not swimming. So make sure you are not setting yourself up for a vacation of rocky shore when what you really wanted were calm waters and a sandy beach.

Packing

8. Beware of the rainy season. Hawaii's rainy season goes from November to March, so in February you will probably be hit by afternoon showers. The good thing is the rain won't last long. The bad thing is you never know when it will hit you.

9. Dress appropriately. The days are warm and humid, often reaching 80 degrees Fahrenheit (and sometimes rainy), but the nights can be cool, going down to about 68 degrees. Don't assume that because it's Hawaii that it can't get a bit cool.

10. Pack your driver's license if you are thinking of exploring the island a bit. The easiest way is by car, and Hawaii's highways are well-maintained and easy to navigate. Especially during a rainy day, the easiest thing to do is to get in your car and go exploring.
