Instructions

Make Hawaiian Party Invitations

1. Decide if your invitation will be a simple singular design or require folding. If you want your invitation to be folded, fold the paper or cardstock in half before drawing. Draw or trace your desired shape onto the paper or cardstock, by hand or using stencils, with your pencil. Use can use surfboards, flip-flops, sea turtles, totem poles, coconuts, pineapples or your favorite Hawaiian flower as the shape of the invitation.

2. Cut out your invitations carefully following the pencil marks. Use a ruler to draw straight lines on the inside or back of the invitation to guide you when you write pertinent information. Draw the lines with your pencil, very lightly so you can erase the lines when you've finished.

3. Write details to the party such as when, where, what time, whom to contact and any other special details or requests, such as asking guests to wear beach attire. Use a colorful marker to write the details. Carefully erase the light pencil marks.

4. Color in any design on the front of the invitation. If you're using a surfboard design, draw lines, waves, flowers or any other shapes you desire. For a sea turtle, draw his features or design his shell. Use colorful accessories such as stickers, glitter, real sea shells, confetti or silk flowers. Glue any charms or other decorations to the invitation using hot glue.

5. Package your invitations in clear plastic baggies with sand and small shells if you desire. Rolling the invitation like a scroll is another option. Secure it with green raffia and put it inside a clear bottle. Add sand, shells or a silk tropical flower for your guests to enjoy until the day of the party. Light blue envelopes work for invitations that must be mailed.
