Prepare An All Saints Day Feast

All Saints Day is traditionally celebrated by the Catholic church in honor of the saints who do not have their own feast days. Around the world, this day is also used to remember relatives who have died in the past year. One way to celebrate All Saints Day is by preparing a meal with food that is traditionally served on this day.

Instructions

Prepare an All Saints Day Feast

1. Begin your preparations well in advance. You will need enough time to make arrangements for all the things you'll need.

2. Decide on the number of people you'd like to have at the feast. Are you planning a party, a get-together or a small feast for the family?

3. Send out your invitations at least 2 weeks ahead of time if you are planning a party. If you are having a get-together with a few close friends, a reminder phone call 1 to 2 weeks in advance is appropriate.

4. Plan your menu. Consider trying traditional food made on All Saints Day in other countries, for instance, panellets, a dessert served in Catalan countries.

5. Remember those members of your group who may have allergies to certain foods and include food that they can safely eat. Also remember the children who may attend and include food they can eat easily.

6. Shop for your ingredients. Make allowances for accidents and the possibility of having to make slightly more than you planned.

7. Check your baking pans and be sure you have the right size for each item you may be planning to bake.

8. Have a trial run for items on your menu that you haven't made before. Give yourself enough time to do this until you can get it right. You may want to make your sample a week before the event.

9. Try to start making the food a day or two in advance. Prepare the items on your list that will not need to be immediately eaten, for instance, cookies. Also prepare the items that can be stored in the freezer until needed.

10. Decide on a location for your feast. If you plan on having it at your house, be sure you have enough space to accommodate the people you are inviting. Otherwise, consider other possibilities, like outdoors if there is enough space and weather permits.

11. Decide on how you will serve the food. Will this be a sit-down affair or will the food be served buffet-style?

12. Be sure you have enough chairs and table settings for your guests.
