1. Decide what supplies you'll need, such as plates, napkins, cups, silverware, tables, chairs, heat lamps and coffee urns.
2. Visit party supply stores to browse their selections. Speak with personnel about renting large items such as tables and chairs. If they don't rent what you need, ask for a recommendation.
3. Select divorce-themed supplies at online retailers such as PlumParty (see Resources below).
4. Select party games, movies and music depending on the type of party you're having. Rent movies ahead of time, add songs to your iPod and make sure your speakers are working properly.
Buy, Rent or Borrow Supplies
5. Buy supplies locally or online. If you're buying supplies online, make sure that you leave plenty of time for delivery before the party.
6. Rent or borrow additional furniture and tables if you need them. If you're renting supplies, confirm delivery times a few days before the party. If you're borrowing, enlist the help of a few friends, including someone with a truck who can help you set things up.
Organize the Divorce Party Supplies
7. Arrange tables and chairs as early as possible, preferably the day before the party. If you've rented heat lamps, make sure they're working properly.
8. Lay out napkins, plates and silverware. If you're having a buffet and you're expecting a big crowd, set up plates on both sides of the table to keep traffic flowing.
