Use And Decorate A Pumpkin To Make A Baby

Turn a pumpkin into a baby's head with some paint.

Whether you're creating decorations for your yard during Halloween or throwing a pumpkin-themed baby shower in the fall, you might want to create a pumpkin baby. This homemade decoration will transform a plain pumpkin into a sweet bundle of joy with little more than some paint and old baby clothes. When you're finished, place this unique creation in a basket or bassinet to make a one-of-a-kind display for your home or party. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Paint the face of your pumpkin baby using acrylic paints. Make two large eyes with plenty of eyelashes on top and bottom. Paint a small nose and color two, pink circles on either side of it to create the blushing cheeks. Outline a closed-mouth smile that extends almost halfway across the pumpkin's face. Allow the paint to dry.

2. Cut the rubber part off of a pacifier. Glue the plastic cover in the center of the pumpkin baby's smile.

3. Attach a headpiece to the pumpkin baby. This can include a curly blond wig or a cloth baby bonnet.

4. Create a body for the pumpkin baby using old baby clothes. Search through your children's closet for clothes they've outgrown or go to a local thrift store. Find a onesie that has long arms and pant legs. Footed pajamas will work great for this project. Stuff the onesie with any plush material, such as hay, plastic bags or crumpled newspapers.

5. Set a basket or bassinet in a location where you want to display your pumpkin baby. Layer a blanket or two on the inside. Place the pumpkin on one side of the holder. Put the stuffed body right under the head to make it appear that they're attached. Secure it with tape underneath if needed.

6. Accessorize the pumpkin baby and your display. Scatter toys around the cradle and put a rattle in its hand.
